For how long have been in photography? 15 years
How did you start? I always had a camera or video camera in my hand. I didn’t always know I was going to be a shooter, but, I always knew I was incredibly drawn to beautiful imagery. I took a few courses throughout college, after graduating, I decided to go back to school for photography to learn more about the aesthetic and the business.
How would you describe yourself as an artist? I don’t know that I really can describe my artistry. I shoot what I’m drawn to and what moves me, loud, quiet, clean, dark, etc. I’m drawn to it all behind a lens, but, what I see behind the lens is where my artistry comes in. It is in a vision or moment when I find a rhythm in my shooting, and that’s when I become an artist.
Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration in everything. Colors, textures, books, music, films, people, clothes, moods, location etc. Inspiration is everywhere, you just have to be a sponge to it.
Is Brainstorming  not the only creative method used to create new concepts? Creating new concepts can come from anywhere. Often times brainstorming is key, however, there are moments when concepts arrive organically, or when collaborating with the right creatives.
Please could you tell us about photography and digital technology? Digital technology has allowed for incredible new creative opportunities. As it continues to expand, so will the medium.

How important is an awesome website for your business? Incredibly important, it is your first impression to the world.

For how long have been in photography? 10 years
How did you start? As a photographer on a cruise ship. Growing up in a family of serious people doing serious jobs like tax consultants and working in a bank, it took me a while to get my courage together, really start doing what I love and become a photographer. I started on a cruise ship (still analog times, we developed in the nights), assisted a few photographers back on the mainland, worked a lot, shot a lot… I opened my own studio in Vienna…  Moved to paris…  I now work internationally, my Paris agent also starts working in Asia now as well, which I’m really looking forward to.
How would you define yourself as an artist? Artists shouldn’t define themselves, it’s whatever people think!
Where do you find inspiration? I read a lot and travel a lot…
Please could you tell us about photography and digital technology? I shoot with Hasselblad mainly and Broncolor flash…for underwater I use Canon and Seacam housing, Seacam flashes
What type of camera do you use most? Hasselblad (as stated above)
What is your favorite lens? There is no favourite lens, it depends on what you want to do, how your image is supposed to be. sometimes you need a super wide angle, sometimes a macro, sometimes a tele lens…
What has been your most memorable assignment and why? Shooting in an orphanage in Moldavia…I’ll never forget the kids there.
What are your favourite three images you have shot recently? Just shot a worldwide cosmetics campaign underwater…very very happy about it. …it’s going to be out in September. I also like the new Striessnig series…just shot in Deauville/Normandie. – I loved the light there, it’s really beautiful…as is the model Adrianna, she’s absolutely amazing…Third would be my Stiefelkönig campaign…I still like fairy tale worlds…
How important is an awesome website for your business? I think it’s really very important to show your work online in a professional way..in any business.
What’s the most important quality a photographer needs to have? fantasy. creativity. ability to talk to people and …listen to people.
Did you work for international brands? Which ones? Swarovski. Babor cosmetics. Chanel. Schwarzkopf. Nivea. Pierre Lang. Philips. Striessnig. Mercer Line. Deichmann.
Which of your projects has given you the most satisfaction? At the moment it’s definitely underwater photography, it was a little adventure in the beginning: will everything work out the way we want to? will the model perform? will there be any technical failures? I have a fantastic team, we got better and better with every shoot and now we really have everything under control
Best and worst experience? There’s lots of good ones… Happy customers, motivated teams, nice shoots on beaches, crazy shoots on building sites in the night, sneaking into newly opened palais de tokyo, finally really getting to shoot in that old rare helicopter I wanted… actually…I’ve been really lucky until now…there haven’t been really bad experiences… There have been little disasters every now and then of course…but if you’re staying flexible, you survive them
Who are the photographer’s you admire the most? Steven Klein. David Lachapelle. Herb Ritts.
What about architects and designers? …all the Bauhaus people  …. Mies van der Rohe, Eames, Jacobsen, Eileen Grey. In fashion of course Alexander McQueen, Viviane Westwood. I like Gareth Pugh very much and Iris van Herpen.
What are your next projects? we got a few things coming up…options for nice campaigns…and, most important: we started a little book project – which will be finished and out by the end of the year hopefully.

For how long have been in photography? 3 years ago
How did you start? After a long internship in advertising, i decided to do what i really want – photographer. I started as an assistant in a photo studio, but i’ve been lucky, i did’t do it for a long time, just a few months.
How would you define yourself as an artist? I’m just someone who wants to tell stories thanks to photography… with a lot of details and symbols.
Where do you find inspiration? Certainly in movies, i love Wes Anderson, the fantasy that emanates from his films, through his characters and their offbeat style, the attention to details etc. But i also find inspiration in each thing of everyday life.
Is Brainstorming not the only creative method use to create new concepts? Brainstorming can be helpful, when i’m not sure about some ideas, but in general i’m just alone with a book and a pencil, and i write everything i have in mind.
What type of camera do you use most? Canon 5D Mark II
What is your favorite lens? 24-70mm
What has been your most memorable assignment and why? I’ve had chance to work with a lot of artists i like, it’s very difficult to choose only one moment. I loved very much to work with the singer of Dionysos, Mathias Malzieu (french music group) because i’m a big fan of his music!
What are your favourite three images you have shot recently? One of my “I love you mom” series, portrait of my “albino” series and a new one about a widow woman.
How important is an awesome website for your business? It’s very important to show the best way your pictures. It’s also a way to highlight them.
What’s the most important quality a photographer needs to have? To be patient I think.
Did you work for international brands? Which ones? Not really, I work mostly for magazines.
Did you work with Top models? How was your collaboration with them? I’m working with models yes. Usually when the feeling goes really well with some models we keep in touch and we rework several times together. If you pay attention, there are girls who return several times in my series.
Which of your projects has given you the most satisfaction? Most of the projects i could exhibit as my Albino series or “I love you Mom” series.

Best and worst experience? Best experience is, in general, to work with amazing artist I like. The first artist who i collaborated with is Micky Green, she was so nice with me and she recontacted me some months after our shooting to invite me to her concert. I don’t really have very bad experience, some shootings are more difficult than other (because bad weather or because we have only 2 hours make up included to shoot 4 pictures…), but finally i try to keep in memory only positive things.
Who are the photographer’s you admire the most? Difficult to choose only one photographer… I like Erwin Olaf and Gregory Crewdson, for their work on light, directing, their very esthetic side of their pictures, each one is perfect. I like the way they have to magnify ordinary places. What I prefer is the elaboration of detailed sets, which are often fully recreated. We feel very strong influence of cinema, especially in Crewdson’s work.
I absolutely love Alex Prager for her compositions, her ideas, her retro look. The colors are always gorgeous and her images very strong. I also like a lot Tim Walker, his pictures are like fairtale. And everything is real!! That’s my dream to work as him, to make series in which i can create a set and props as i have in mind.
What about architects and designers? I like Le Corbusier, Eames, Rietveld, Saarinen… I also like a lot Horta.
What are your next projects? I’ll be exhibited in October in my Dutch gallery, Sophie Maree Galerie, with a new project. Exhibition is called “my private view” so i try to do a series about me.

For how long have been in photography? I’ve had a camera for as long as I can remember, but professionally only 10 years
How did you start? After a series of life asserting moments, I just kind of landed with a camera in my hand and it hasn’t left since.
How would you define yourself as an artist? I like to capture emotion, I want to be able to share that emotion with the audience of my work. It is the emotion that drives me.
Where do you find inspiration? Absolutely everywhere, it could be the smallest thing to a full on discussion, I believe that Life is the biggest inspiration of all, failing to live deprives you of everything you need to create something new and beautiful.
Is Brainstorming not the only creative method use to create new concepts? Conversation around subjects often leads to ideas, I don’t think it’s the only way to come up with something interesting, of course once an idea is seeded it is great to discuss how to create it, that process very often adds to the initial idea.
Please could you tell us about photography and digital technology? I’m not sure what you’re asking here, photography to me is all about moments, it’s about that split second where everything comes together to create something interesting, it doesn’t have to be a happy thing, but it does need to be emotional. Digital technology has come on leaps and bounds over recent years, my own kit has changed significantly from my old Nikon and 501, after originally getting a Phase One back for the 501 to have a play with digital, I found I wasn’t completely happy with the workflow. I have however now moved to being completely digital.
What type of camera do you use most? I spend my time equally between my Nikon D2X (I just can’t bring myself to upgrade it, its now an extension of me) and medium format, I tend to use Hasselblad, but the Phase kit is also cool.
What is your favorite lens? This is a tough one, probably my 28-70mm
What has been your most memorable assignment and why? This would have to be shooting Gillian Anderson, on the day we just “connected” (I wanted to say Clicked, but that seems a bit ….).
What are your favourite three images you have shot recently? To many, an image from a recent Editorial, several images from a recent ad-campaign I shot, lots.
How important is an awesome website for your business? A website is important, how “awesome” it is depends on who is looking at it?
What’s the most important quality a photographer needs to have? Thick skin, I guess that applies to any artist really, for everyone that likes your work there are loads more that don’t.
Did you work for lnterntonal brands? Which ones? Yeah a few, Heidi Mottram for one
Did you work with Top models? How was your collaboration with them? They want what we all want, to make pictures and have fun, it’s always fun
Which of your projects has given you the most satisfaction? I recently shot a documentation of my youth in images, to give to my kids, it was remarkably satisfying to be honest.
Best and worst experience? My best experience changes with every new day, so here’s to what tomorrow brings. There is no such thing as a worst experience, learning is the important thing.
Who are the photographer’s you admire the most? It’s a surprisingly short list to be fair, the first two that spring to mind are Clive Arrowsmith and Vincent Peters.
What are your next projects? I have a lot going on at the moment, keep an eye out

For how long have been in photography? I shot my first pro model 3 and a half years ago, but had an interest since my school days
How did you start?  I started at school on black & white film but started seriously again about 5 years ago coming from 3D modeling where I would create fashion model style images in CGI, after a while I figured all the time and money that went into the final images I may as well shoot live models and I’ve not looked back since.
How would you define yourself as an artist? I like to see myself as a photographer that creates something timeless, something classic, not someone that follows trends too much and does his own thing.
Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration from all over, sometimes I’ll see something on TV or in a movie that will spark an idea but I draw the most inspiration from the past, mainly the supermodel era of the eighties and nineties, there’s just something magical about that era that inspired me even before I became a serious photographer.
Is Brainstorming not the only creative method  use to create new concepts? Not at all, I think sometimes you can start with an idea and see it evolve into something completely different during a shoot but a clear starting point is always good obviously.
Please could you tell us about photography and digital technology? I have a love-hate relationship with it to be honest, it’s much cheaper to produce, which is great, but it’s also bred a lot of overly retouched and plastic looking photography. I think it’s a shame when you’re a photographer who can retouch well and you get praised for your retouch before the actual photography. I try to keep my retouching to a minimum mostly, I think the best retouch is the one you don’t notice, capturing as much as possible in camera is still very important to me. That said I’m still a fan of digital.
What type of camera do you use most? I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II but recently shot a little film, with an old Yashica 24.
What is your favorite lens? For beauty my Canon 100mm 2.8 macro, for fashion and full length work a cheap Canon 50mm 1.8 but will soon upgrade that to a 1.4.
What has been your most memorable assignment and why? Probably a commercial job I did a couple of years ago for a Dutch company, not because of the results or what we were shooting but just as it was an enjoyable job where I got to work with an old friend and a make up artist, Sandra Bermingham, who still I work with a lot and the model was good fun too.
What are your favourite three images you have shot recently? I have alot of favourites from this year but from my most recent I think the black & white of model Emelie rising from the water in the sea, Laura in Nichole de Carle lingerie in the garden and the macro beauty shot of Eleanor’s lips & nails.
How important is an awesome website for your business? Extremely important, it’s my shop window, it’s where people can go and see my work. Awesome doesn’t mean music, animation and a busy page though, clean, simple and to the point websites are the best, after all people want to see your photography, nothing more.
What’s the most important quality a photographer needs to have?
Aside from having the technical ability and passion I consider personality to be very important, if you have that then it makes for a more enjoyable shoot for the whole team.
Did you work for International brands? Which ones?
Not as yet, I have shot for some smaller businesses in Europe but it’s still early days in my career even though I came into it later in life. Any enquiries always welcome!
Did you work with Top models? How was your collaboration with them?
I’ve worked with some very good models from various top agencies and always found that the collaboration was enjoyable and productive… I’m still waiting for Kate Moss though!
Which of your projects has given you the most satisfaction? I can’t pinpoint one, every shoot is satisfying in different ways but I think the ones that are the most satisfying are the ones where 99% of the work is done in camera and there is minimal post production required. A recent beauty shoot was like that, unusually for a beauty shoot there was very little post production which made that one very satisfying.
List of your clients? My clients are mostly small businesses and models right now but I’m working towards adding some recognizable clients.
Best and worst experience? The best is yet to come and I hope the worst is behind me!
Who are the photographer’s you admire the most? That could be a long list but I look to the likes of Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, Patrick Demarchelier, Mario Testino and those of a similar experience, I just find their work timeless.
What about architects and designers? Not something I really think about.
What are your next projects? I have a number of projects in the pipeline all relating to beauty and body, some studio and with some luck with the UK weather I’m planning much more location work, maybe a trip abroad before the end of the year.

How would you define yourself as an artist? Crazy, perfectionist, no borders, creation and every or anything that can make you feel – organized chaos.
Where do you find inspiration? In everything: a look, material, travel, magazines, movies…
Is Brainstorming not the only creative method used to create new concepts? yes, two brains are better than one.
Please could you tell us about photography and digital technology? Digital photography helped us to play more and save time and rectify or move forward more quickly by looking and adjusting immediatly. Photography itself is still about light!

Did you work with Top models? How was your collaboration with them? They are all just plain human beings that are successful and we are all on the same level, so I don’t see a problem. You just need to be strict from the beginning with the difficult ones – we all need to work to create one purpose that is a top model. People that are great get more work nowadays anyway as everybody is tired of divas.
Which of your projects has given you the most satisfaction? making a portfolio of someone whom has never been in front of the camera and thus evoking self confidence.
Best and worst experience? Worst experience? 7 years ago I lost all my Santorini images; best experience is always when people recognise my name.

What about architects and designers? Architect Jean Sebastian Bourdages based in China has a special place in my heart, Roberto Cavalli’s recent show in Dubai and a certain golden wedding like dress also got me excited.
What are your next projects? Turning some pretty good looking girls that has never been in front of the camera into model by shooting their portfolios etc. I’m also working on a photojournalism project of my trip to Japan.

Each fashion weeks’ period, there may be emphasis on stunning haute couture gowns and embellished garments or expensive detailing, yet what every modern woman is definitely interested at is how to achieve a modern casual-wear ,just ‘out of the catwalk’. The modern concept about being casually dressed (and chic) is based in the idea of ‘’layering’’. Oversized knits on top of leggings along with fur vests and pull-overs dominate the scene. This season, the more geometric the cut of the fabrics, the best the result achieved.

Basic casual wear starts with a trench coat or Mackintosh, a must-have item for seasons. A true classic that can be worn with jeans, leggings or sportswear r and still makes the silhouette look fab. For this fall, leave basic black aside in favour of more intense colours such as red and baby pink or choose the safety of a camel one. Colour-blocking is in trend therefore you must not be afraid to match previously ‘unmatched’ colours such as red and blue, or green.

Should you’d go for an alternative, a faux fur jacket is the best choice. In several nature or vivid colours, it supplements your wardrobe slipped over a cozy knit along with a big baroque style necklace close to the neck or leather gloves to match. Or even choose your comfortable tracksuit pants to match-but try to keep it low there in colours such as grey, blue and black.

Most designers have included sportswear designs in their collections combing them with more elegant patterns to create a most elegant sportswear. Stella Mc  Cartney and Chloe are two houses that work much on that idea as well as Ralf Laurent and its sleek, simple silhouettes. The main idea is that casual wear, unlike some years ago, can now be very chic-and sexy!

Do not let the term ‘flapper’ to confuse you, as it incorporates a female sartorial revolution back in the 20’s. Those women adopted behaviours that would then become norm in modern society (and fashion).

Women wore short skirts, kept their hair bobbed, listened to jazz and ‘misbehaved’ as a sign of female independence. It’s the twenties that were called the ‘Roaring Twenties’, as the political scene and many cultural exchanges between Europe and American jazz culture created a culture of its own.

It was Coco Chanel who pioneered to the sartorial culture and changes that emerged from the cultural ones, wearing trousers and havinf cut her hair short.She also favoured fabrics such as rayon. The ideal woman looked young and boyish with short hair, flattened breasts, and straight waists accentuated it.

Adolescence-looking was essential as part of a woman image and clothes, a close
fitting hat than a broad one and a hobble skirt than a long hemline one as used to be. We can surely say that 20’s were the decade were woman’s fashion entered the modern times. Women then wore short skirts for the first time and trousers along with less restricting underwear.

At this time fashion was highly influenced by art movements such as surrealism. Elsa Schiaparelli was influenced by the surrealistic art and incorporated it into her designs. some of them seeming avant garde even for today’s standards.

Jean Patou was a designer that made a hit with his two-piece
sweater and skirt outfits in luxurious wool jersey that were both luxurious and comfortable. Being that important in female emancipation,20’s fashion have never seized to inspire modern designer with its careless class. Several versions of the two piece, the long trousers and of course, the flapper dress are to be spotted in many seasons by many modern fashion designers, showcasing the importance of the decade in cultural and aesthetic terms.
